Job Description

As a Bridge and Lock Tender, your primary role involves managing the safe operation and maintenance of bridges to ensure smooth traffic flow. You will be responsible for monitoring roadways, communicating with emergency services, and ensuring compliance with safety protocols.

Responsibilities

• Manage the opening and closing of bridges for vehicles and pedestrian traffic as needed.
• Liaise with other bridge operators to ensure efficient traffic management.
• Oversee bridge maintenance schedules and ensure compliance with safety standards.
• Respond promptly to traffic incidents and assist in coordinating emergency responses.
• Provide regular updates and reports on bridge operational status to management.
• Follow all safety protocols to protect oneself and the public during bridge operation.
• Conduct routine safety checks and document findings.
• Assist with training and onboarding of new bridge operators.
• Foster a positive work environment through effective communication with team members.
• Engage in continuous professional development and training.

Requirements

Education

• Certificate III in Bridge Construction or equivalent
• First Aid certification

Experience

• Experience with emergency response protocols preferred.

• Bridge Operating Systems

• First Aid Certification
• Drivers License

Languages

• English: Fluent

Advantageous
