Job Description

As an Admitting Officer, your primary role is to greet and register patients upon their arrival. This involves verifying insurance details, collecting personal information, and ensuring compliance with hospital policies to enhance patient experience.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the day-to-day operations of the admissions department.
  • Ensure that all patient registrations are completed efficiently.
  • Communicate effectively with healthcare providers to relay patient information smoothly.
  • Monitor and manage the waiting area to ensure a pleasant patient experience.
  • Participate in ongoing training and professional development.
  • Actively contribute to maintaining a clean and organized workspace.
  • Coordinate with insurance providers for timely authorizations.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with patients and their families.
  • Stay informed about hospital policies and changes in procedures.
  • Provide feedback to management to improve the admissions process.

Requirements

Education
  • Certificate III in Health Administration or equivalent
  • Current police clearance and Working with Children Check required
Experience
  • 2+ years in a healthcare admissions role
Technical Skills
  • Knowledge of medical billing and coding
  • Familiarity with Medicare and private health insurance policies
Soft Skills
  • Empathy and patient-focused mindset
  • Team player
Languages
  • English: Fluent
