Job Description

As an IEP Aide, you will work closely with students who have Individualized Education Plans. Your role will involve providing tailored support and assistance to help these students thrive in their educational environments. This may include one-on-one instructional support, adapting learning materials to suit individual needs, and fostering their social skills. By collaborating with teachers and parents, you will play a vital role in ensuring that students achieve their goals and enjoy a positive school experience.

Responsibilities

  • Work alongside teachers to support the educational development of students with disabilities.
  • Help adapt educational resources to meet the specific needs of students.
  • Document students’ achievements and challenges for future reference.
  • Encourage positive peer interactions and friendships among students.
  • Assist with daily living skills to promote independence in students.
  • Facilitate engaging and motivating learning experiences.
  • Participate in team meetings to discuss student progress and necessary adjustments.
  • Foster a safe and supportive environment for all students.
  • Assist in crisis situations according to established behavioural strategies.
  • Engage with students in a variety of activities to promote learning and social skills.

Requirements

Education
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Certifications in special education or related training is a plus
Experience
  • Preferably experience in educational settings, especially with children with disabilities

Languages
  • English: Fluent

Advantageous

  • Experience with sensory processing disorders: Familiarity with techniques to help students manage sensory sensitivities.
