Job Description

As a Skipper at Marine Services Australia, you will be tasked with operating and managing vessels, prioritizing the safety of all passengers and crew on board. This role requires excellent navigation skills, the ability to make quick decisions under pressure, and a commitment to maintaining high safety standards.

Responsibilities

  • Lead navigation and operational control of the vessel across various marine environments.
  • Implement safety protocols and emergency response plans.
  • Analyze maritime routes and make informed decisions based on conditions.
  • Ensure all crew members are aware of their responsibilities and roles.
  • Engage in continuous learning and development of maritime skills.
  • Maintain knowledge of local marine regulations and conditions.
  • Participate in the overall strategic development of maritime services.
  • Foster a positive and inclusive team environment.
  • Collaborate with shore-based teams to ensure smooth operations.
  • Prepare and deliver reports on trip operations and safety aspects.

Requirements

Education
  • Master Class 5 Skipper’s Certificate
  • Relevant maritime qualifications
Experience
  • 5+ years’ experience in a maritime leadership role.
