Conservation Scientist

Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Conservation Scientist to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will conduct aquatic assessments, analyze data, and develop management plans to ensure the sustainability of aquatic ecosystems.

Responsibilities

• Conduct ecological surveys and assessments of aquatic environments, including water quality, habitat, and biodiversity.
• Develop and implement management plans for the protection and restoration of aquatic ecosystems.
• Provide technical advice and support on aquatic ecology issues to clients and stakeholders.
• Collect and analyze data, prepare technical reports, and make recommendations based on findings.
• Manage projects within budget and timeframe constraints.
• Stay up-to-date with relevant regulations and best practices in aquatic ecology.
• Contribute to business development activities, including proposal writing and client presentations.

Requirements

Education

• Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Ecology, Biology, or related field
• Postgraduate qualifications in aquatic ecology preferred

Experience

• Minimum of 5 years' experience in aquatic assessments and management plans

Technical Skills

• Environmental Modelling Software (e.g., AQUATOX)
• Remote Sensing Software (e.g., ENVI)

Soft Skills

• Analytical Thinking
• Negotiation Skills

Certifications

• Certified Environmental Professional (CEP)
• CPR and First Aid Certification

Languages

• English: Fluent

Advantageous

• Experience with drones for ecological data collection: Hands-on experience using drones for monitoring and assessment.
• Experience with fieldwork in remote locations: Ability to perform ecological assessments in remote and challenging environments.
