Job Description

As the Poundmaster, you will manage the daily operations of the animal pound, overseeing staff and volunteers. Your role involves ensuring the welfare of all animals, coordinating adoptions, and liaising with the community. We seek a compassionate leader with a strong commitment to animal welfare.

Responsibilities

• Lead the team in managing the animal shelter and pound effectively.
• Develop and implement programs to promote responsible pet ownership.
• Collaborate with local veterinarians and animal welfare organizations.
• Ensure the humane treatment and care of all animals in the shelter.
• Participate in community education events to raise awareness of animal welfare.
• Oversee the animal control operations to ensure compliance with local laws.
• Monitor condition of animals and provide necessary veterinary care.
• Foster a positive team environment and encourage staff development.

Requirements

Education

• Certificate III in Animal Studies or equivalent
• Bachelor's degree preferred in Animal Science or a related field

Experience

• 3+ years of experience in animal welfare or a supervisory role
