Job Description

As a Sexual Assault Social Worker, you will provide essential support and counselling to survivors of sexual violence. This role requires a deep understanding of trauma and exceptional skills in navigating complex emotions, all while ensuring that clients feel empowered and safe.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver trauma-informed counselling sessions.
  • Assess clients' needs and risks in order to formulate tailored intervention strategies.
  • Liaise with external agencies including healthcare and legal services.
  • Provide crisis intervention when necessary, responding to clients' immediate needs.
  • Participate in training and continuous professional development.
  • Engage in community education regarding the resources available for survivors.
  • Promote cultural sensitivity and inclusivity while working with diverse populations.

Requirements

Education
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Social Work
  • Registration with the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW)
Experience
  • Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in social work, especially with survivors of sexual assault or domestic violence.
