Job Description

As a Historian at the Cultural Heritage Agency, you will manage and maintain a comprehensive database of historical sites and artifacts. The successful candidate will be instrumental in ensuring the accuracy and completeness of our records while collaborating with professionals to promote Australia's cultural heritage.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the management of historical records and databases.
  • Investigate and document historical significance of artifacts.
  • Work closely with community groups to promote heritage education.
  • Create and maintain effective reporting mechanisms.
  • Advise on conservation techniques for artifacts and sites.
  • Provide training and support to junior staff and volunteers.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of heritage legislation.
  • Engage with the public through talks and presentations.
  • Coordinate with government bodies on heritage projects.

Requirements

Education
  • Bachelor's degree in History, Heritage Studies or similar field
  • Master's degree in Heritage Management preferred
Experience
  • 3+ years of experience in heritage preservation.
