Job Description

We are looking for a Shearer with hands-on experience in sheep shearing and a commitment to ethical practices within the livestock sector. You will be part of a team that prioritizes animal welfare and contributes to the overall operations of our farm.

Responsibilities

  • Operate and maintain shearing equipment effectively.
  • Ensure compliance with farm safety regulations and practices.
  • Communicate effectively with team members about livestock needs and conditions.
  • Stay updated on industry standards in sheep shearing and animal welfare.
  • Participate in team meetings to discuss livestock management strategies.
  • Assist in the onboarding of new shearers.
  • Continuously seek ways to improve shearing efficiency and animal treatment.
  • Monitor sheep post-shearing for any signs of distress or health issues.
  • Provide feedback on equipment performance and requirements.
  • Track wool quality and report to the Farm Manager.

Requirements

Education
  • Certification in Shearing and Wool Handling
  • Experience in livestock management is preferred
Experience
  • Minimum 2-5 years of shearing experience required.
Technical Skills
  • Proficient in shearing techniques.
  • Knowledge of animal welfare practices.

Certifications
  • Shearing and Wool Handling Certification
Languages
  • English: Fluent
